Ela Baumann studied music and dance at the University « Mozarteum » in Salzburg. Since then is the Austrian stage director and choreographer  working around Europe. In her work as a director she seeks the combination of music and dance (A trip to the moon, world premiere Norman, Sir Simon Rattle & Berliner Philharmoniker; Die beiden Musikanten Davies, Sir simon Rattle & Berliner Philharmoniker; Rusalka Dvorak, Sibiu; Bastien and Bastienne Mozart, Luxembourg; The Merry Widow Lehar, Cologne; De Ballade van de grote hand, Antwerpen, Tuuli with Chorus sine nomine, Konzerthaus Vienna, Zirkus Sardam Charms, collectif Dadofonic Luxemburg).

Ela Baumanns great passion is music and dance theater for young audienc. As a director, choreographer and librettist she developed plays like Next stop:blue, (K)eine Alpensage Dienz, Das goldene Herz, Rocky Roccoco, Drumblebee, Mausemärchen und Riesengeschichte Naske, LOLLO Naske. 

Ela Baumann’s creations for young audience are shown in numerous concerthalls and theatres around the world: Lucerne classic Festival, Konzerthaus Wien, Konzerthaus Berlin, Vienna State opera, Washington Kennedy-Center, Hong Kong City Hall, Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie Cologne, deSingel Antwerpen, Bregenz Festival, Philharmonie Luxemburg, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
